[3] MPEG Content Promotion for Multimedia Developers

Here's an opportunity for multimedia developers to gain publicity for creative work where Hitachi's new Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) camera is used. (This device lets you shoot digital video movies, then download them directly into your computer without further processing. Without an MPEG camera, it typically costs thousands of dollars to produce and digitize a ten-minute MPEG-1 compressed video clip.) Hitachi's promotion program works this way: You'll receive US$ 900 off the suggested retail price (SRP) of an MPEG camera (SRP: US$ 2,399.95) if you use this camera in producing a multimedia project and then send a sample of the project to Hitachi by October 31. This offer is limited to the first 100 participants, and selected MPEG-based images will be showcased on a CD-ROM that will be distributed at Fall Comdex. To obtain submission guidelines, enter the user name "secret" and the password "weapon" at this web site: If you can questions on this program, call Teresa Murdock at 408-562-3900.

For more information on the Mac OS interface to this camera, see this web page:
